Pre-New-Nano Release Notes, etc.

SO! The new Nano is supposed to be released today at 10 a.m. pacific at an event titled ‘Let’s Rock’. A photo apparently leaked of the updated iPod so here’s what we’ve got as of right now:

Whether this photo is the real deal or not, we’ll know for sure by 1pm everywhere in the United States. Also at this event, the updated iPod Touch will apparently be announced which is supposed to look more like the iPhone 3G.
Speaking of the iPhone, Firmware Update 2.1 is also supposed to be released tomorrow. The final update/new item that is supposed to be released on September 9th is iTunes 8.0. It is slated to contain ‘grid view’, genius playlists, new visualizers, and possibly support for HD television.
Apple has slated this event to be ‘a big deal’ to the media, which, in the way of guerilla marketing, isn’t such an unusual thing to hear. However, Apple is usually pretty modest about their stuff when it drops. That being said, keep your eye out for any surprise releases of things not mentioned here or anywhere else on the web. There are rumors of rainbow colored iPods, turn-by-turn GPS for the iPhone 3G and the iPod Touch, new features for the iPhone, and more mention of the MacBook Touch.
For those of you interested in MacBook/MacBook Pro updates, it looks like you’re out of luck this time. Apple has hinted that there won’t be any mention of anything until the very least, October.
